Weekly News review

Morning worship on Sunday 13th November takes place at 11.30am (please note the later time) at Bellshill Central Church, 346 Main Street. Our minister, Rev Kevin de Beer, will lead worship when collectively we remember Armistice (or Remembrance) Sunday. Our readings are taken from 1 Samuel 16:14-23 and 2 Corinthians 5:16-21. Our hymns include Praise my soul the King of Heaven, Be thou my vision and Be still for the presence of the Lord. The church choir will sing the introit “God of our Fathers” with the text taken from a poem by Rudyard Kipling and also sing the anthem “Dona Nobis Pacem” by Lee Dengler (translation: Give us Peace, good will to all men). Activities for children and young adults are available in our Young Church groups that meets during the service. All are warmly welcome to our service of worship. We’re a warm and welcoming church family at the heart of Bellshill. We would love to see you join us.

Also on Sunday 13th November our Minister, Rev Kevin de Beer, will lead the Act of Remembrance at the Bellshill Town Cenotaph for the people of Bellshill. Please gather there for 10.30am for the act of remembrance to start between 10.35-10.40am to enable time for 11am time of silence. All of those from the cenotaph are warmly welcomed to continue in the act of remembrance at the church service in Bellshill Central.

Advance notice: the now well sought after “Anne Guy” clothes show takes place on Friday 18th November in the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre. Tickets are available from Anne and friends at church on Sunday mornings, or let us know and we can reserve some. They go quickly, so get in quick!

Our church guild continues meeting weekly. This coming week on Monday 14th November we continue our preparations for Guild Week at 1.30pm in the Church Hall. Devotions being led by Helen Clark. All ladies and gents are welcome to come along to a warm and welcoming group, full of fellowship. Full event details for the year are available online. Guild week runs from 13-20th November with special events taking place. This annual event in the Guild calendar aims to inspire local Guilds to promote the work of the organisation throughout their communities. The guild will take our church service on Sunday 27th November.

We look forward to another celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Baptism in the Church on Sunday 27th November at 10.45am. This is also the first Sunday of Advent. The Christmas Countdown starts!

Our indoor bowling club has also resumed on Wednesday nights in the Church Hall. Bowlers of all ages and abilities are warmly welcome to come along. You are guaranteed a cheery welcome and some friendly competition. Just who will be the best bowler this season? You will have to come along to find out!

Both our Brownie (7-10yrs) and Guide (10-14yrs) packs have resumed on Thursday nights in the Church Halls. Brownies meeting from 6.15pm-7.30pm and the Guides from 7.45-9.15pm. Any girls interested should come along to the church hall to join in the fun and be part of the Guide Family. Our Rainbows (5-7yrs) have also resumed on Tuesdays in the Church halls at Bellshill Central. The Rainbows meet from 6pm-7pm. Any girls interested are invited to come along to the church hall to join with other girls from the local area. Information online at http://www.rainbows.girlguiding.org.uk

Church choir next meets on Friday 11th November at 7.30pm in the Church. All are welcome to come along. Our next project is Christmas.

The Friday night club has resumed at 7pm on alternate Friday evenings. Next meeting is on Friday 17th November. Table tennis, crafts, open to all ages all welcome, to this family friendly activity night.

  • Advance notice of December dates:
    Saturday 3rd December – 12noon til 1pm – Shopper’s Carol Service – the whole town is invited to sing favourite carols and hear the Christmas story re-told.
  • Saturday 3rd December – 1pm – 3pm – Christmas Afternoon Teas (with a visit from Santa) – tickets available soon
  • Thursday 8th December – 7pm – Sing a Song for Christmas – raising funds for Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre. Guest acts include SoundSational, Mossend Primary School Choir, Church Brownies, Guides and Rainbows, the Fabulous Fiona MacDonald (female vocalist) and our own Church Choir. Come along for festive fun and cheer.
  • Sunday 18th December – 7pm – Carols by Candlelight. The Church will be candle lit and you are invited. Bring your torch along or simply use your camera phone as a torch to add to the atmosphere.
  • Saturday 24th December – 7pm – Christmas Eve – All Age Nativity Service.

Our Church YouTube channel is now live! We are now uploading our worship services online and please visit and worship with us. We are especially pleased to see people worshipping with us when they can, using their PC or tablet or mobile device. Please like our videos and send us a message.
